Project Description
Sound Transit implemented Sound Move, a comprehensive three-county regional transit system plan. This plan combined three transportation systems to improve connectivity and accessibility in the region. The first component is the Sounder commuter rail, covering a distance of 82 miles from Everett to Tacoma/Lakewood. The second component is the Link light rail, which initially spanned 14 miles, connecting Seattle and Tukwila. Additionally, there was a 1.2 mile Airport Link extension to SeaTac and a 1.6 mile line in Tacoma. The third component is the Regional Express, introducing 18 new ST Express limited stop, long-haul bus routes. The plan also included various enhancements to transit centers, park-and-ride lots, and HOV direct access ramps across the region. Sound Move represents an ambitious effort by Sound Transit to enhance regional transportation options and improve the overall transit experience.
Scope of Work
The quality assurance team from Systems Consulting, LLC, in collaboration with Sound Transit management, conducted a series of assessments, surveillance, and audits on specific contracts within the Sound Transit Capital Projects Capital Program. These audits aimed to validate the adequacy and proper implementation of the Capital Projects Quality Assurance Program, ensuring compliance with specified requirements. The contracts covered projects in both the design and construction phases. The Systems Consulting, LLC quality assurance team provided additional support to the Sound Transit management team by performing assessments, surveillance, and audits. The purpose of these activities was to verify the satisfactory development, documentation, and effective implementation of the Capital Projects Quality Assurance Program, in accordance with the specified requirements. The QA audits involved producing reports, conducting interviews, using checklists, reviewing QA plans, evaluating training programs, and reviewing the QA Manual. The ultimate goal was to identify and report any findings resulting from these audits.
